FRONT-END DEVELOPER

Permanent
Salary: £30k-£35k
Location: near Portobello Road, London W10

LendAround.com is an exciting new startup that has hit the headlines at TechCrunch, BoingBoing and Lifehacker. We're building tools to help people lend and borrow things with their friends, starting with DVDs, and our private beta has seen an explosion of members and items listed.

Armed with some venture capital from some highly respected investors in web businesses, we’re now expanding. That will include some big changes and improvements to our front end, which means a lot of work and a lot of potential input for a front-end developer. It’s a chance to design a rich interface from the ground up, for what could be one of the fastest-growing web sites of 2010.

We’re a small, friendly, and informal team, working out of a warehouse office with wooden floors and high windows close to the hip and edgy Portobello Road and Golborne Road. Surrounding us in the building are a range of talented people from the worlds of media, graphic design, photography, journalism and lots more.

If you’re ready to make the move that could take your career up a level -- the kind of person that wants to develop your skills across the whole range of front-end development --  then this will be your dream job. It will also give you a chance to develop strong skills in user-experience testing with live people.

Key roles

- Working with our heavyweight back-end developers and talented graphic designer, and liaising directly with our CEO, you’ll be the owner of the front end.
- This means you’ll make sure that great visual ideas are translated into robust, lightweight code, and that our users get what they want quickly and beautifully.
- We want your ideas as well as your execution: we’re building a fantastic service for users, and we need your input on how to make it look stunning.
- You’ll regularly be on the lookout for technologies we can use, and innovations in user experience and interfaces.
- You’ll be trained in how to do fast, efficient user testing.

Essential skills:

- Superlative abilities with the web's frontend technologies: HTML/XHTML, CSS and Javascript.
- Knowledge and several years’ paid experience in designing web interfaces.

Nice-to-haves (in order of priority):
Scriptaculous or JQuery
Flash, Flex and/or ActionScript.
Photoshop or similar image editing software.
PHP, Symfony, Subversion, Linux

TEST ANALYST
Permanent
Salary: £25K
Location: near Portobello Road, London W10

If you have some strong commercial experience as a test analyst, perhaps with one job and a year’s experience under your belt, then this is the perfect job for you. It could put your CV on the map, and help you move on to a more senior job as a developer.

The key role is working as part of a talented development team writing tests for new functionality.  Ideas and input outside your area of work will be welcome, and you may have the chance to do one or two other things, too.

The essential skill we need is experience writing tests for a web application, preferably using Selenium.

Nice-to-haves would include experience with PHP, HTML, CSS or Javascript; and with Symfony and Lime.

To apply, please email testanalystsite@lendaround.com
